Al-Raqeeb – Dr. Ahmad Shadeed, an expert on Israeli affairs, stated during an interview on Al-Raqeeb with Talaat Alawi that the Israeli government is facing a deep political crisis, even as attacks against Palestinians in the West Bank and Gaza Strip continue. Shadeed argued that, despite official statements, the reality on the ground shows that confrontation and killings have not ceased, and that Israeli policies persist as part of the government’s struggle for political survival.
Internal Political Chaos in Israel
Shadeed explained that the Israeli government is experiencing failure and political disorder, with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu continuing to eliminate his rivals through legal and administrative battles. “The Israeli right holds the upper hand, and Palestinian blood is being used as fuel to preserve the government’s political survival,” he said.
The Alleged Deal on Prisoners and Bodies
Shadeed also addressed the alleged deal regarding the return of prisoners and bodies of those killed in Gaza, noting that the Israeli government manipulated prisoner lists and engaged in insincere negotiations. “More than one list was published and manipulated, followed by the announcement of government appointments as part of controlling the negotiations, without achieving any real results,” he added.
Ongoing Israeli Aggression on the Ground
The analyst emphasized that violations and assaults have not stopped, even after discussions of a truce. He pointed to continued air raids and confrontations in Gaza and the West Bank. “The wave of anger within Israeli elites has not subsided, and killings and assaults continue—only the methods and means have changed,” Shadeed noted.
Limited Arab and Regional Role
Shadeed criticized the Arab support offered to Palestinians, describing it as mostly symbolic rather than effective on the ground. He added that American initiatives, such as Donald Trump’s proposal, disrupted the balance and deepened regional complications.
Comprehensive Review of Palestinian and Arab Performance
He stressed the importance of reviewing all stages since the Madrid Conference to evaluate political mistakes. “We must reassess Palestinian and Arab performance since the early 1990s, to identify where we succeeded and where we erred. That is the price we are paying today,” Shadeed remarked.
Future Challenges and Risks
Shadeed warned that continued overreliance on external initiatives poses a serious risk to the Palestinian people, stressing that Israel’s government will persist in its aggressive policies unless its regional and international support weakens.
He concluded by stating that the current situation requires restraint and internal review, cautioning against following unreliable external promises. He emphasized the need for realistic analysis of events and the development of sustainable strategies for confronting challenges and defending Palestinian rights.
