Political analyst Dr. Mahmoud Khallouf warns of the dangerous political and field conditions facing Palestinians amid expanding Israeli aggression, rising settler attacks, and ongoing international and Arab paralysis.
Raqeeb – Political analyst Dr. Mahmoud Khallouf warned of the dangerous political and on-the-ground phase Palestinians are going through, amid the expanding scope of aggression, the increase in settler attacks, and the continued international and Arab incapacity to take real steps to stop Israeli violations.
Khallouf said, during his appearance on Al-Raqeeb with Talaat Alawi, that the world today is “confused,” using the same tools without any real impact, whether in the Security Council or the General Assembly. He pointed out that international resolutions “no longer mean anything on the ground,” at a time when international institutions are unable to open a single gate in the West Bank or allow even one liter of water into Gaza.
He explained that the most dangerous aspect facing the Palestinian arena is the world’s acceptance of this harsh reality, along with the decline of formal Arab engagement, at a time when arrests and settler attacks are escalating, and a policy of intimidation is being imposed—aimed at depriving Palestinians of any sense of safety in their homes, their land, and their movement.
Khallouf revealed that the architect of the “consciousness-shaping policy,” former Israeli minister Moshe Ya’alon, admitted about seven months ago to the failure of this policy, stressing that this acknowledgment means, strategically, that Palestinians have won the battle of will despite all attempts by the occupation to strip them of their resilience.
He added that the Palestinian citizen’s ability to adapt to occupation measures—from checkpoints to ever-increasing restrictions—is evidence of strong popular will. “But the real problem lies in the factions and the Authority, which adapt to the reality instead of pushing it toward a calculated political and popular confrontation.”
In a related context, Khallouf criticized the performance of the Arab League, affirming that “the agenda of the normalization states” has come to dominate the League’s discourse, leading to a decline in its real role, despite the fact that the Arab Parliament was established to represent peoples, not regimes—something that has not been achieved to this day.
The political analyst stressed that the real Palestinian bet should be on national self-reliance, not on regional or international promises. He called for formulating a comprehensive national plan that strengthens citizens’ resilience, supports the local economy, activates the role of state institutions and the private sector, and enhances social solidarity while providing direct support to affected families in Gaza.
Khallouf also called for revisiting the community security system—including night watches in threatened villages—and developing the political and moral-guidance structure, similar to Egypt’s experience, where such a system played a pivotal role during the October War.
He concluded by stressing the need to end stagnation and unify leadership and political vision, in light of the ongoing aggression and escalating conditions in the West Bank and Gaza, emphasizing: “This phase requires a comprehensive national awakening, because the one who endured on the ground is the citizen—not the factions.”
