Israel activates old seizing orders on lands near Jerusalem

The Israeli occupation authorities have activated old seizing orders on hundreds of dunams of land in the village of Qalandia, north of Jerusalem.

The Jerusalem Governorate explained that these lands are located east of the village of Qalandia, next to the Atarot colonial industrial zone and Jerusalem Airport.

It is noteworthy that these orders were issued in the 1970s and 1980s to expand the Atarot colonial industrial zone, but have not been implemented for decades due to objections from the landowners.

Since then, the residents have rejected these legally invalid occupation orders and have refrained from engaging with them.

They have continued to cultivate their lands without any objection from the occupation authorities over the past decades, until they were surprised in the past few days by new occupation measures demanding that they relinquish their lands to the so-called “Israel Land Administration.”

It is noteworthy that these agricultural lands are registered in the names of their owners in the English and Jordanian Land Registries, from the people of Qalandia village and the city of Jerusalem, before the establishment of Israel.
